He has instructed students in trial advocacy at both Hofstra Law  and Touro Law schools and is a frequent lecturer for the Suffolk Academy of Law.

Attorney Purcell has served as president of the 3500-member Suffolk County Bar Association, as chairman of its Criminal Law and Judicial Screening committees and as dean of the Suffolk Academy of Law.

 

Attorney Purcell has also been very active in the New York State Bar Association, serving as a Vice President from the 10th Judicial District, a member of its executive committee and presently serves as co-chair of the New York State Bar Association’s Committee on the Tort System. In connection with the New York State Bar Association, Mr. Purcell served as Chairman of the New York State Conference of Bar Leaders from 1998 to 1999.
